Clinical pharmacists provide pharmaceutical services to inpatients and outpatients in a large tertiary care medical center. Clinical pharmacy practice program offers practice opportunities in outpatient/ discharge pharmacy settings, including work with Investigational Drug Service. The pharmacist will primarily support the Clinical Cancer Center and be responsible for clinic and infusion area medication order evaluation and verification. The pharmacist will have duties including therapeutic dose checking, prospective drug utilization review during prescription order entry, supervision of prescription filling and compounding (including investigational medications), patient counseling and working knowledge and problem solving for patient payment and insurance issues. The pharmacist will supervise technicians and pharmacy students and provide performance feedback. Assistance with prioritization and wo! rkflow modifications in a busy environment is expected. A succ! essful candidate will have strong telephone and customer service skills.
Education Required:
Pharm. D. (Doctor of Pharmacy) degree or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and one year of dedicated oncology experience is required. Experience Required:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work environment is required. Certifications:
Current licensure as a Registered Pharmacist by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy is required. Desirable Qualifications:
Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 hospital pharmacy practice residency or three years of experience in oncology is desirable. Immunization certification is desirable. Completion of ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency is highly desirable. Board certification in oncology is highly desirable. .
