You will be gaining exposure to managed care that will provide you with an opportunity to shape your clinical education to allow for additional exposure to managed care during the clinical residency part of your education. Through projects, you will also learn to work collaboratively with other stakeholders within Wellmark.
The work in the Pharmacy department will include clinical review of utilization management requests (under the supervision of a pharmacist), providing clinical support on drug related issues to both the sales teams and internal project teams, assist in the implementation of regulatory standards, new utilization management programs and the clinical review of new and existing formulary additions.
Hiring Specifications Required:
Current three plus year student in a PharmD degree
Must be a licensed intern with the board of pharmacy (Iowa)
Proficient in Microsoft! Office & intermediate excel skills
Ability to work indepe! ndently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must prioritize work and be able to efficiently summarize clinical literature
Must be able to interact and work collaboratively with others
Completed course work in therapeutics, pharmacology and pharmacy calculations
Job Accountabilities:
1. Primarily focused on formulary management program development and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee presentations
2. The intern will be responsible for developing (at minimum) 3 drug/class reviews for the august meeting
3. At least 2 utilization management programs
4. Special projects based on the needs of the business and the interest of the intern will be completed during the interns’ tenure
