Role Introduction


Reports to: Regional Head of People - Northeast Asia
Location / Country: Seoul / South Korea
Employment Condition: Contract (2 years) – possibility to be converted to a permanent employment


Due to an expanding Human Resource team, we are looking for a talented manager focusing on engagement, development and performance management across Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Reporting to a manager based in Hong Kong, the overall aim of this role is to enhance engagement and our high performance culture across the region’s 800 team members. This is a standalone visible and influential role and, as this is a key member of the regional people team, travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities


High Performance Culture

  • Own the overall performance management processes
  • Provide leadership training, coaching and support for managers on a 1:1 and group level
  • Support line managers through alignment and consistency of performance management including managing the annual calibration process within the region to ensure a clear link to pay at year end
  • Proactively support line managers with performance improvement plans, coaching and formal performance management as required
  • Use centrally provided frameworks and strategies to provide tools, guidelines and training to support local teams
  • Conduct exit interviews with senior or regretted losses and analyse exit interview and turnover data to identify trends and issues that can be improved upon

Line Manager Capability and Leadership Development

  • Provide line manager support, coaching and training to build an engaged and productive team
  • Ensure a leadership induction programme for newly promoted supervisors is in place and is delivered in a timely and engaging manner
  • Identify innovative ways to deliver line manager coaching and training and support remotely and with use of technology

People Development

  • Ensure a local induction is in place for new hires in a timely and engaging manner
  • Facilitate the delivery of centrally designed training programmes within the local teams in an effective and engaging way
  • Conduct regular Training Needs Analysis for employees and invested stakeholders across all functions and for each location to support better performance
  • Develop and deliver targeted local training identifying skills gaps and opportunities to improve performance through people development
  • Submit training and engagement budgets as required
  • Generate training reports as required
  • Identify opportunities for local government funding and support for training initiatives in each market and partner with the local people team to secure these opportunities
  • Measure effectiveness of training efforts

Career Planning

  • Identify talent within the region and lead the People Week processes
  • Ensure that regional Succession Planning is regularly conducted and documented
  • Manage identified talent for succession and ensure they are on track with their plans and liaise with line managers to assess the flight risk / retention initiatives
  • Identify key ‘at risk’ or ‘business critical’ roles and work with line managers to ensure that there are plans for coverage in case of absence or turnover

Engagement

  • Conduct focus groups based on annual engagement survey results to devise engagement action plans
  • Partner with the global engagement teams and community to suggest ideas and best practices and provide feedback on how global initiatives fit into the local context
  • Contribute to global communication and engagement activities to ensure they are fit for purpose for the market
  • Drive Work Well Done campaigns and Award nominations across the region
  • Develop and implement local recognition programmes to suit the needs of the local teams
  • Design and deliver Ground Handling Agent and General Sales Agent recognition programmes as necessary to drive a service culture
  • Draft Intranet articles regularly sharing news and successes
  • Promote and nurture a strong customer service mind-set and culture within all teams

E&A

  • Emergency and Accident and Crisis Response responsibilities as required

Requirements


  • Degree in Human Resources or equivalent (preferred)
  • Certificate in adult education / training delivery (preferred)
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in HR or closely related area
  • Excellent written and spoken English with Japanese or Korean or Putonghua being an advantage
  • Practical experience in business partnership across multiple locations
  • Demonstrably superior communication and facilitation skills
  • Experience in training design and delivery
  • High energy and motivational style
  • Confident in conducting engagement events
  • Ability to create and influence a team environment
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in Korea
