Waking Night Residential Care Officer [United Kingdom]


 

40 hours per week over a 2 week shift pattern, 4 nights on - 4 nights off

Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of activities for which you have passion and interest, bringing your hobbies into your work life
  • Supporting young people to relax and settle and
  • Supporting young people to feel safe
  • Motivating a healthy lifestyle
  • Promoting positive relationships
  • Active maintenance of equipment to ensure the ongoing safety of clients and staff
  • Completing security checks of the home throughout the night
  • Completing fire drills/evacuations each month
  • Completing household chores/cleaning duties
  • Completing all required paperwork and updating risk assessments/care plans as required and any other paperwork required in connection with events on shift
  • Updating management of significant events
  • Liaising with other professional agencies
  • Liaising with families
  • A creative approach to working with young people building relationships
  • An understanding of the vulnerabilities of young people in our care at night time

Desirable

· Experience in using a creative approach and adapting to meet young people’s needs

· Experience of residential care

· Experience in working with vulnerable young people

· An interest in social pedagogy or the passion to learn and deliver

Essential

· NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in children’s residential care

· Able to work a shift pattern rota

Resi Action gives practical support through developing key social and independence skills such as confidence and motivation. We work with 6 – 17 year old's who are facing complex challenges within their lives. These are vulnerable young people who require support, patience, an understanding and empathetic approach to re-engaging them with health, education, where possible family contact. Each young person will have their individual care plan which you will be required to support and implement. Staff will be required to complete regulatory and legislative paperwork and attend meetings regarding the young person’s placement and where necessary advocate for the young people you are working with. Resi Actions vision is that every young person should have the chance to succeed.

Resi Action is based on providing opportunity through engagement in activities and learning life skills, based around undertaking outdoor pursuits and challenging activities. We aim to build confidence, motivation and skills to help young people return/continue in to education and complete the in house ASDAN program. It is expected that night staff are creative in their approach to supporting young people to feel safe and secure at a vulnerable time.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and passionate individual who has the experience of working with young people and specific target groups. It is essential that the post holder has the ability to manage their own workload, and can work effectively and positively as part of a highly motivated team to deliver the program and meet agreed targets and provide an outstanding service and experience for vulnerable young people who display challenging and complex behaviour's.

Part-time hours: 20 per week

Salary: £20,572.50-£22,522.50 per year
