I. Clerical
- Telephone Reception for Main pharmacy area
- General! record keeping as it relates to:
? Purchasing, Returns, Recalls, Billing
? Automated Dispensing
? Nursing unit floor stock records
? Cash Register
? Miscellaneous Pharmacy Records/Reports
- Mail Distribution
- Interdepartmental and external billing
- Generation and filing of reports from automated medication dispensing systems
- Maintains orderly storage of supplies.
- Notifies HELP LINE (4357) to request services from Buildings and Grounds, Biomedical and Environmental Services
- Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure coordination of services with other departments
- Participates in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, quality improvement activities and other related activities
- Does not perform duties restricted to pharmacists
- Other duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager! or Assistant Pharmacy Manager
? Purchase of non-pharmaceutical and office supplies for department use
? Effective use of purchasing hardware and software
? Awareness of safety concerns when performing duties as purchasing agent
? Facilitation of medication returns and recalls
- Seeks out cost savings and/or cost avoidance opportunities when performing duties
- Assists Pharmacy Manager in maintaining centralized and decentralized pharmaceutical and supply inventory
- Assist Pharmacy Manager in performing fiscal inventory of pharmaceutical supplies
- Assists Pharmacy Manager in maintaining pharmaceutical contract compliance
Education: High School Graduate or general education degree (GED)
Licensure: Registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy is require! d. Certification with a national certification body is preferred; is required within 1 year of Pharmacy registration.
Experience: Secretarial experience preferred.
Skills/Abilities: Effective written/verbal communication skills, basic knowledge of computer concepts and word processing is required, ability to meet time frames for work completion, effective skills at teamwork and team facilitation, proficient organization and record keeping skills
