Position Description

Pharmacists Mutual has an opening for a Claims Service Representative. This position is responsible for the first customer experience with claims. The CSR will handle administrative duties of the claims process such as; providing excellent phone communication skills, accurate entry of claim data, and serving our customers both internal and external.

Claims Service Representative II
  • Works independently within established guidelines.

Essential Functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Talks with customers and claimants to collect and document claim information at first notice of loss.
2. Set up claim within claim system(s) and refers claims to specialized units to ensure timely contacts are achieved.
3. Processes indexing of tasks within claims system.
4. Maintains claim files and document claim file activities in accordance with established guidelines.
5. Monitors Workers Compensation claim files through third party administrator.
6. Utilizes diary management system for reinsurance purposes and to document appropriate notes.
7. Maintains and updates internal and external claim reports.
8. Monitors and audits outgoing claim checks.
9. Assists with other Claims Units as needed.

  • Maintain records, prepare reports and conduct correspondence related to the work.
  • Interpret and apply laws, rules and regulation, as well as complex policy and contract coverage.

  • Determines when to escalate concerns to the appropriate level of management.

Position Requirements

Education, Training and Work Experience
  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a business discipline or closely related field
OR
  • High School Diploma/equivalent with three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in insurance claims and/or business
OR
  • Equivalent combination of closely related education (Minimum High School Diploma or/equivalent), training and experience.

Special Requirements, Licenses and Certificates
  • Education plan, special requirements and designations at manager’s discretion.
  • Licensing may be required in some states.
Preferred Qualifications
Claims Service Representative II
  • 2 years prior experience as a CSR.
