PAY RANGE: $13.92 - $19.62
HOURS: Varied hours - Start times of 6:00, 7:00, 7:30 1300. Every 4th weekend and minimum of 2 Holidays/year. Week-end on call hours. May work night shift if staffing needed.
Job Summary
The Pharmacist Assistant prepares all medications, (unit dose and IV compounded products) for pharmacist check and ensures delivery to nursing unit for patient administration, refills pyxis units, pends medications to pyxis units, prepares all floor stock requests, prepares kits for anesthesia, may participate in the Tech Check Tech (TCT) program, maintains the department’s inventory in a clean and orderly condition, processes departmental paperwork, and triages phone calls. May perform inventory control functions as well as functioning as a chemotherapy technician in the Cancer Center.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Must be registered pharmacy technician in the state of Iowa.
National Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
Experience
Demonstrated competence 3 year s of pharmacy (site-specific) experience,
or at the discretion of Manager or Supervisor based on employees skill set, aptitude and leadership abilities.
Special Skills and Competencies
Tact, diplomacy, accuracy, dependability, and typing.
Be proficient in mathematical skills. Must have a passing math test score 85%
Knowledge of pharmaceutical names and dosages.
Must have acceptable accuracy in performing tasks of verbal and written communication
keyboard operation and computer skills, as well as interpretation and use of
numerical and graphic materials.
