Essential Functions: Evaluates risk to accept and price or decline risks in accordance with company guidelines and state approved manual rules and rates. Engages in critical thinking to provide the optimum results for both the company and our customers which is verified by detailed documentation. Understands insurance principles and has a broad knowledge of our niche markets. Consistently reviews workflows and makes suggestions for efficiency improvements. Handles a defined ! book of business within assigned authority. Completes underwri! ting quality reviews. Coordinates communications between corporate underwriting and the team Reviews and implements efficient workflows. Performs the roles of a trainer, mentor, coach, and company representative. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of commercial insurance underwriting, and collection and interpretation of data. Ability to: interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations; Obtain and utilize sensitive information discreetly and objectively Maintain records Prepare reports and conduct correspondence related to the work Recognize questionable coverage or contract situation which may necessitate management involvement Analyze complex issues and make critical decisions Read, interpret and input data efficiently and accurately Communicate effectively with others (oral and written) Follow oral and written directions Work effectively with others in a team environment Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of team or w! ork unit goals, objectives and activities Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Provide effective customer service Organize and prioritize work Work independently and use initiative Handle multiple tasks at once Meet definite deadlines and deal with pressure situations Utilize computer and related software effectively
Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a business discipline or closely related field A minimum of 5 years of experience in underwriting experience
