Product Development Specialist

Location: Algona Iowa

Description: Pharmacists Mutual Companies is at the momment seeking for Product Development Specialist right now, this job will be placed in Iowa. Reviews /analyzes form/rate/rule revisions initiated both internally and externally in support of company strategic initiatives. Develops new products/pricing through independent research of industry publications, filings, etc. Initiates company implementation of required and selected revisions.

Essential Functions:
Essential Functions may include, but are not limited to the following:

Reviews bureau filings and assesses impact on PhMIC
Researches insurance regulations / statutes as required; int! erprets state and federal regulations, and initiates modificat! ion of company operations to comply
Demonstrates a working understanding of rate adequacy analysis in all company lines, including both loss costs &/or independent rate scenarios
Demonstrates a working knowledge of policy coverages and language in all company lines
Develops bureau rate &/or form change analyses for presentation to Senior Management
Develops independent policy / rate revisions
Researches industry trends and programs to develop and enhance PhMIC products
Demonstrates a working knowledge of query capability
Submits complete and accurate filings to state Departments of Insurance. Objections resulting from missing or inaccurate data/documents are received on fewer than 5% of filings submitted
Develops IT specifications for form/rate/rule revision projects, addressing: Point, DAP, including form mapping and DEC impact, CAE, PSC, website, and any other areas as necessary
Monitors / assists in testing policy processing system rev! isions
Develops and presents, or assists in developing and presenting, revision training to internal users.
Monitors effects of pricing / rating revisions implemented

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of PhMIC products and pricing; principles and practices of insurance underwriting; and collection and interpretation of data .
Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations related to coverage, pricing/rating and customer notification
Maintain records, prepare reports/presentations and conduct correspondence related to the work
Interpret premium algorithms and coverage nuances
Recognize questionable coverage or pricing situation which may necessitate management involvement
Input data efficiently and accurately
Analyze complex issues and make critical decisions
Read, interpret and input data efficiently and accurately
Communicate effectively with others (oral and written)
Follow oral and writ! ten directions
Work effectively with others in a team environment Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a business discipline or closely related field preferred
Associates degree and five (5) years of experience in finance, banking, or insurance
Special Requirements, Licenses and Certificates
Complete the online policy training for at least 2 lines of business within 6 months of hire, and all within 1 year of hire. Must have AINS Designation or obtain within 2 years of hire.
