PAY RANGE: $13.09 - $18.34
HOURS: Vary based on coverage needs. May work the following shifts 6:00, 7:00, 12:30, or 15:00. May need to work a weekend shift 7:30.
< br>JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Technician prepares all medications, (unit dose and IV compounded products) for pharmacist check and ensures delivery to nursing unit for patient administration, refills pyxis units, prepares all floor stock requests, maintains the department’s inventory in a clean and orderly condition, requisitions supplies, processes departmental paperwork, and triages phone calls.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education [formal]
A high school diploma or equivalent is required
Must be registered pharmacy technician or be eligible for registration in the State of
Iowa. This must be completed within 30 days of employment.
National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred , previous medical or pharmacy
background, or a registered pharmacist intern enrolled in good standing with a School of Pharmacy.
If a pharmacy technician already, must be certified within 6 months of employm ent.
Experience:
Previous pharmacy experience preferred
Special Skills and Competencies:
Tact, diplomacy, accuracy, dependability, and typing.
Be proficient in mathematical skills; and successfully complete competency exam with a minimum passing score of 85%.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical names and dosages.
Must have acceptable accuracy in performing tasks of verbal and written communication, keyboard operation and computer skills, as well as interpretation and use of numerical and graphic materials.
