Additional Information:
Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners must be obtained within 30 days from date of hire and maintained for the duration of employment as mandated by Iowa Code.
Desired Qualifications:
Prefer candidate wit! h ability to perform ratio and proportion equations. Prefer ab! ility to prioritize tasks in time sensitive situations. Prefer previous work experience in an environment that included inventory maintenance activities. Prefer knowledge of windows-based computer programs. Prefer experience working in a team environment. Prefer previous work experience in healthcare. Prefer National Career Readiness Certificate At Silver Level.
Duties:
Under general supervision by a pharmacist, compound sterile products for parenteral use in accordance with principles of aseptic technique and in accordance with prescriber orders and department policies and procedures. All pharmacy technicians must be certified within one year of employment. If certification not achieved by the end of one year, individuals will be terminated. (Board of Pharmacy Administrative Rules, Iowa Administrative Code 657, Chapter 3, Pharmacy Technicians.)
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school graduation including a general mathemat! ics course, or the equivalent.
2. Ability to type a minimum speed of 15 net words per minute.
3. Effective July 1, 2009, a Pharmacy Technician (Trainee) must be registered with the Pharmacy Board. All pharmacy technicians must be certified within one year of employment. If certification is not achieved by the end of one year of employment, individuals will be terminated. (Per Board of Pharmacy Administrative Rules (Iowa Administrative Code 657, Chapter 3, Pharmacy Technicians)
4. Experience requirement:
a. Two years experience in a position directly related to the natural sciences, or
b. Two years post high school education in the natural sciences or related area, or
c. A combination of related experience and related post high school education to equal two years.
